Democrats simmer over no-win dilemma as Biden support ebbs away
President Joe Biden is losing political traction on Capitol Hill as congressional Democrats count the cost of his determination to stay in the race.
Jennifer HewettColumnistWashington | George Clooney is used to playing different roles. So when one of the world’s most famous actors – and a major Democratic fundraiser – doesn’t believe Joe Biden can play president any more, it makes his indictment of the “friend” he loves all the more damning.
“The one battle he cannot win is the fight against time,” Clooney wrote in a searing opinion piece in The New York Times. “… the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe “big f---ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
