Telcos urged to share data to prepare for fire risk

Resilience NSW head Shane Fitzsimmons has called on telecommunications firms to share more data to help prepare for natural disasters, saying loss of communication was one of the most distressing aspects of last summer's bushfires.

Mr Fitzsimmons told The Australian Financial Review Infrastructure Summit more attention should be paid to risks posed to critical telecommunication and electricity infrastructure. He said telcos in particular were reluctant to share that information.
