SA’s algae bloom puts heat on Australia’s 2035 climate target

It’s no doubt been a confronting few months for South Australians living along the coast, with thousands of dolphins, rays, sharks, penguins and other marine life washing up dead.

Giant and persistent blooms of the Karenia mikimotoi algae have smothered species great and small in a toxic blanket, starving them of oxygen.
