Renewable energy solutions firms power ahead
Rebecca RussellOne year on from the inaugural Sustainability Leaders list, so much has happened in the environmental, societal and governance (ESG) space. Australia adopted a legislated emission reduction target of 43 per cent by 2030 and many ASX 200 companies strengthened their targets to align with a 1.5 celsius scenario and to cover scope 3 emissions. At the same time, scrutiny of ESG claims has increased; the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission raised the alarm on vague environmental claims and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission launched Australia’s first court action for greenwashing. Increased economic uncertainty has also amplified the polarisation of opinions around ESG.
