Powerful global climate movement Unfriend Coal has turned its attention to oil and gas, writing to some of the world's biggest insurance companies including Australia's QBE calling on them to stop underwriting oil and gas projects.

The letter was sent to the chief executives of 30 insurance companies, including many that have positioned themselves as leaders on climate change.
