Labor’s plan ‘won’t work without carbon capture’
Calix, the Australian company leading the world on decarbonisation of heavy industries such as cement and steel, says the government must provide more support for carbon capture and storage if it wants to hit 2030 emission targets.
The Albanese government cancelled $250 million of federal grants for carbon capture in October as it refocused funding away from big fossil fuel producers and instead pledged $141 million over 10 years toward carbon capture projects linked to “hard to abate” industries such as cement, steel and aluminium.
