Feds clash with Queensland on ‘priority’ renewables projects

Commonwealth officials have deemed two multibillion-dollar electricity projects as renewable energy transition priorities despite the Queensland government expressing concerns about the developments.

The CopperString transmission line, an 800-kilometre high-voltage connection between Mount Isa and Townsville in north Queensland, is under review by the Crisafulli government after a blowout from a $1.7 billion estimate in 2021 to $9 billion now.
