Australia urged to follow US push into scope 3 disclosures
Australian regulators have been urged to follow their United States counterparts by enforcing greater disclosure of corporate greenhouse gas emissions including the scope 3 emissions of customers.
Australian companies such as BHP, Rio Tinto and the big four banks are likely to be affected by the draft rules published by the US Securities Exchange Commission on Tuesday, which seek to enhance and standardise the disclosure of climate risks.
