What real promise to make people better off would look like
The prime minister’s “narrative” glosses over the key lesson of the past three years; it is impossible to improve living standards if you don’t tackle meaningful reform.
Anthony Albanese promised voters they will be better off in three years if Labor is re-elected for a second term at the election due by May 17.
“We’ll have more policies for a second term announced in coming weeks and months because we understand that people want to know that they will be better off under us,” Albanese told The Australian Financial Review’s political editor, Phillip Coorey, on Friday. “If they vote Labor, they’ll be better off in three years time, and that’s important.”
