It’s the state with the highest debts, the highest taxes, the highest business costs and the lowest credit rating.

And now according to figures from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Victoria had the lowest formation of new businesses in the country in the year to September. That’s been matched by the fastest growth in insolvencies in the hospitality sector of any state in the past year, with 600 coffee shops and restaurants going under.
