Australia’s coronavirus strategy to date can simply be described as doing whatever it takes to minimise the number of infected cases and deaths.

It can reasonably be argued that this makes sound economic sense because it appears to be the fastest route to a sustained recovery. This is what technology author Tomas Pueyo describes as The Hammer and the Dance. Apply the hammer of strong measures first, and then you can start to dance as freedoms return.
