Ask the country’s top labour market expert, Professor Jeff Borland, whether there is any evidence young Australians are switching jobs more than their parents’ generation and he will give you a one-word answer: no.

And yet, headlines about fickle Millennial and Gen Z employees persist, fuelled by lazy stereotypes about young workers with unrealistic career expectations and a constant need for affirmation.
