Government loan benefits offshore workers

The government is to extend a 10-year $25 million loan to a Victorian car upholstery maker even though many of the jobs it funds are in China and Slovakia.

The federal government has agreed to provide a $25 million loan to a Victorian car upholstery maker even though many of the jobs the money funds are in China and Slovakia.

The preferential loan is a boon to ASX-listed Schaffer Corp , a property developer, maker of building materials and owner of Howe Automotive, which has about 160 staff in the northern Melbourne suburb of Thomastown.
