Technology giants such as Facebook and Google will likely be forced to allow external developers access to their device and software platforms in a bid to bolster digital competition and strengthen consumer protection.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is due to report to Treasurer Jim Chalmers in October with recommendations also designed to reduce data-hording by platforms.
