Card data shows Victoria's recovery is deflating

Credit and debit card spending across Australia is up 12 per cent on the same time last year but reinstated COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria have kept its recovery lagging well behind other states.

Data from Commonwealth Bank for the week to July 3 showed Tasmania and Western Australia were leading the spending recovery, up 20 per cent and 19 per cent respectively, on the same week last year.
