Australian employers turn their back on tech-savvy workers

The demand for digital skills is in decline even as the online economy goes through rapid growth, with Australia lagging some major trading partners when it comes to interest in hiring people with cutting-edge skills.

The findings, from a paper released on Wednesday by the National Skills Commission, are in contrast with forecasts by online retailer Amazon that Australia will need another 6.5 million digital workers in the next four years to keep up with technological change.
