Expect a $10,000 pay cut unless Chalmers acts on productivity

Former productivity commissioner Gary Banks has warned that Australians will miss out on a $10,000 pay rise, unless Treasurer Jim Chalmers stops “shooting the messenger” and not to dismiss the commission’s recommendations on workplaces and energy to lift living standards.

Mr Banks slammed Australia’s “incentive-killing” tax system, shunning of gas and nuclear to manage the costly energy transition and workplace relations “disaster” for contributing to stagnant productivity.
