Boris promises a Halloween Brexit as MPs fail in bid to block it
London | The odds-on favourite to be Britain’s next prime minister, Boris Johnson, has doubled down on his pledge to pull the country out of the European Union on October 31 with or without a deal, as MPs failed in a fresh attempt to block a potentially disruptive no-deal Brexit.
Mr Johnson said he'd still look for a refashioned Brexit agreement with the EU - which has shown no appetite to renegotiate current Prime Minister Theresa May's deal - but he would at the same time step up preparations for crashing out of the bloc on Halloween.
