Prime Minister Scott Morrison has warned the Liberal Party could lose the October 20 Wentworth byelection despite choosing the "best candidate" available, Dave Sharma.
Mr Morrison's fledgling authority took a hit on Thursday night when the NSW Liberals ignored his desire to preselect a female candidate to help redress the gender imbalance inside the federal Liberal Party and assuage concerns about a culture of bullying.
