Conservative firebrand senator Cory Bernardi has accused former prime minister Tony Abbott of self-interest in encouraging speculation about a split in the Liberal Party.
The comments point to a split in the conservative wing of the Coalition, and suggest Mr Abbott may no longer be seen as a leader of the faction.
