The Coalition government's efforts to lure the Greens into supporting an even greater surge in schools spending threatens to unravel over fears within the minor party of a teachers' union backlash at the next election.
This week is crunch time for the government's $18 billion schools funding package, which is being staunchly opposed by Labor and now hinges on winning support from either the Greens or the Senate crossbench.
