Malcolm Turnbull rejects referendum but flags law changes to ease citizenship chaos

Malcolm Turnbull has ruled out a referendum to abolish section 44(i) of the Constitution in the belief Australians would never vote to allow dual citizens to sit in the Parliament.

However, the prime minister did flag changes to citizenship law to prevent some MPs inadvertently becoming foreign citizens by obscure law changes in other countries.
