Washington | A video sent to Donald Trump by New York governor Andrew Cuomo of a crumbling, rusting, salt-streaked century old railway tunnel beneath the Hudson River - centre of one of the world's most dynamic economic corridors - could be the trigger that gets the US to invest in itself.

While confidence among political and policy experts in Washington is muted after two years of false starts under the Trump administration, the video may just foreshadow rare agreement between Democrats and Republicans to begin a broader rebuilding of rickety roads, railways and ports.
