S&P officially puts Australia's AAA rating on downgrade watch

Standard & Poor's has put Australia on downgrade watch, formally signalling that the next most likely move will be to cut the nation's AAA credit rating.
In a dramatic acceleration of its assessment about Australia's ability to manage its budget following Saturday's election, the agency said it had put the rating on a "negative" outlook from "stable".
