Reserve Bank's Luci Ellis predicts global upturn and rising rates

The Reserve Bank of Australia's Luci Ellis has issued a surprisingly upbeat assessment of the global economy, saying the recent improvement in growth is "no flash in the pan" and investors can expect global rates to keep rising.

"The global economy is looking better than it did a year ago. The turning point was around the end of last year," Dr Ellis, assistant governor for economics, told an Australian Business Economists lunch in Sydney.
