Coalition's $5b northern Australia funding scheme 'lacks transparency'
The Auditor-General has found the Coalition government's signature $5 billion Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility lacks transparency and does not treat projects consistently through the decision-making process.
With the NAIF accelerating the funding of projects through regional areas this year before next month's election, the Auditor-General questioned why NAIF chief executive Laurie Walker had the ultimate power to choose what projects were put to the board for assessment.
