Small-cap stocks are poised to outperform the broader benchmark index for a third straight quarter, led by a surge in the value of miners over the past three months. The March quarter ends in two days.

"A lot of resource stocks have had a good run on the back of higher commodity prices," said Issam Eid, who manages ING Investment's small companies portfolio.
