Equity markets will be at the whim of inflation fears, at least in the short-term, as investors try to position amid an uncertain outlook on just how central banks could respond to a rise in consumer prices.

Last week, local shares tumbled away from a fresh record high after a stronger than expected US inflation print spooked markets who feared a sharp rise in prices could force the Federal Reserve to hike rates.
