NBN Co's senior team were negotiating the finer points of an $11 billion deal with their counterparts at Telstra when an email pinged their inbox carrying the veritable word of god.
It was May 30, 2011 and both parties were still in talks over a major deal for Telstra to hand over its copper-line pits and duct infrastructure and help roll out the national broadband network.
