Experienced energy sector analyst Mark Samter unleashed a scathing assessment of the board of AGL Energy while questioning the motives of chairman Graeme Hunt for stepping into the vacant chief executive role for a $2.25 million base salary.

A fired-up Mr Samter, of MST Marquee, spent his weekend working on a note to clients about Brett Redman’s shock departure from AGL last week amid speculation Mr Hunt was angling to take one of the two CEO roles that would arise from a proposed AGL demerger.
