Uncertainty about the outlook for the world’s largest economy is pushing major investors to shift funds out of the United States and into some of Australia’s largest companies, buoying the local sharemarket.

The mass re-allocation of capital has been triggered by the Trump administration’s aggressive trade policies, which have prompted investors to question America’s economic dominance and superior corporate profitability that fuelled a dazzling two-year bull run on Wall Street.
