$A jumps as US rate rise looks ever more distant
The Australian dollar jumped back above US73¢ after soft US economic data lowered the chances of a US rate rise in 2015, and the currency managed to hang onto its gains even after some wobbles following disappointing local unemployment data.
The local currency had fallen after Westpac's decision to raise interest rates on Wednesday as markets interpreted the move as opening the door for a rate cut by the Reserve Bank of Australia as early as next month.
