The Australian sharemarket is set to climb on Monday as investors brace for a busy week of major bank earnings results and for companies to reveal the impacts of US President Donald Trump’s trade war.
Futures indicate the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index is set for a 0.4 per cent gain, or 32 points, to 8280 at the open on Monday. This follows a strong week for the local market, which recorded a 3.4 per cent weekly gain, extending a rebound in shares after a month of whipsawing equity and bond markets following Trump’s tariff announcements.
