APA bought the 1630 kilometre Amadeus gas pipeline in the Northern Territory for $63 million. The acquisition was supported by a long-term gas transportation agreement. Commissioned in 1986, the pipeline transported gas to Darwin and Katherine and other locations principally to fuel power generation.
