Record water prices defy the big wet

Prices for permanent water entitlements in south-eastern Australia have surged to record highs because of cheap money and reduced risk appetite from lenders.

This comes despite a wet year sparking floods and filling the major dams that serve capital cities and the Murray-Darling Basin.
