The cost of buying batteries and electrical appliances could be significantly eased for low- and middle-income households under a HECS-style loan program being considered by the Albanese government.
Multiple clean energy advocates believe Labor is preparing to offer taxpayer-backed loans to drive household electrification, including through the installation of batteries, heat pumps and other lower cost technology, sold to voters as cost-of-living help from the federal government.
