The Star Entertainment Group’s board had off-the-books meetings during the crisis period in 2019 when Suncity – the casino’s most lucrative high-roller junket partner – was exposed in media reports for links to criminal gangs, drug trafficking and laundering money.

The media reports focused on the relationship rival casino operator Crown Resorts had with Suncity, but the junket operator worked across both casinos.
