Australians spent a record $62.3 billion online last year, but Australia Post’s CEO expects that to double over the next five years.
More than 80 per cent of Australians shopped online last year, driving the online share of the retail market to a record 19.3 per cent, with 5.4 million households buying online each month. Online shopping had been predicted to reach 12 per cent by 2021, revealing the extent of the acceleration caused by lockdowns.
