Tim Smith a trailblazer for the non-credentialed
Myriam RobinRear Window editorWe’ve long figured Victorian politician Tim Smith, who used to film (since-scrubbed) electorate videos below his framed portrait of Elizabeth Windsor, must be a devoted fan of British constitutional convention.
But it seems the Member for Kew isn’t at all the traditionalist we thought. After moving the spill motion that returned the Liberals’ Matthew Guy to that party’s leadership in Victoria, Smith was this week appointed to the role of shadow attorney-general. Even though he, in a break with convention going back centuries, is no lawyer.
