‘Unacceptable’: PM calls for change after rape allegations
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced measures he hopes will bring about cultural change in politics and provide greater empowerment to women after a young staffer who was allegedly raped in a minister’s office in 2019 felt she had to choose between going to the police or keeping her job.
Mr Morrison, who said he only became aware of the alleged incident on Monday, said he was also willing to apologise to Brittany Higgins after she discussed the alleged rape with her boss, Defence Minister Linda Reynolds, in the same office in which the alleged incident occurred.
