Exports to China drive $9b goods trade surplus

Strong demand from China for iron ore and wheat has continued to drive growth in exports despite Beijing’s crackdown on Australian goods, as the nation records its fourth largest goods trade surplus on record.
Preliminary merchandise trade data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed a goods trade surplus of $9 billion, up $7.4 billion from November, more than half of which was attributed to trade with China.
