Jakarta/Sydney | A massive search and recovery exercise amid a worsening pandemic is testing Indonesian authorities after Saturday's plane crash off the coast of Java, as investigators begin trying to work out what went wrong on Sriwijaya Air flight SJY 182.

Heavy rain delayed the take-off from Jakarta's Soekarno–Hatta International Airport on Saturday afternoon and it is not yet known if weather played a role in the tragedy, which has left divers collecting body parts and plane debris.
