London | Wales has plunged its 3.1 million people into a two-week lockdown that will shutter everything except schools and unavoidable office work, creating another layer of confusion in Britain's patchwork COVID-19 response.
Wales' "sharp and deep firebreak", which begins this weekend, brackets the pandemic-hit country's go-it-alone regional government with that of Victoria. It's the toughest response yet seen in Europe to the surging second wave.
