London | France has put a quarter of its population under a 9pm to 6am curfew until at least the start of December, as it becomes the latest European country to buckle under the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic's second wave.
President Emmanuel Macron said early on Thursday (AEDT) that "the situation is worrying but not out of control" as he sought to "put a brake on the spread of the virus" while avoiding a "disproportionate" full national lockdown.
