A $17b splurge that's all about saving the June quarter
The government has decided that deficit looks better on its resume than recession. And it expects big business to do its bit.

Like Maxwell Smart's "missed it by that much'', the Prime Minister dwelled briefly on how close the government thought it had come to returning the budget to surplus.
