Lam rules out concessions despite pro-democracy landslide
Shanghai | Hong Kong's chief executive Carrie Lam has ruled out new concessions to protesters' demands despite a landslide local government election win for political parties demanding her resignation.
The embattled Hong Kong leader also said on Tuesday the government would set up an independent review committee to look at the causes of social unrest gripping the city for the past five months. The committee would be modelled on the system used by the British government after riots broke out in London in 2011.
