More beach days, less rain this summer as La Niña tapers off

Australians are set to see the back of La Niña this summer, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, bringing more beach days with drier and warmer weather than the past two years.

However, people waiting in line to get the best of view Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks might need to bring raincoats and umbrellas, as showers are predicted on Saturday afternoon. BOM forecaster Jonathan How said Sydney will be about 20 degrees as the clock strikes midnight, followed by a chance of showers and top of 26 on January 1.
