Greece chases the lion’s share of Europe’s summer cruise market
The pandemic-induced market disruption to cruising has seen Greece and Malta pounce to take market share off the likes of Italy and Spain.
“No PLF, no flight,” says the woman at Brussels Airport. I’m based in Ghent in north-west Belgium, and am checking in for a flight to Athens ahead of my first cruise of the year.
The airport clerk verifies that I’ve filled in the mandatory Passenger Locator Form (PLF) – a document required by the Greek authorities, on top of the European Union’s QR-code, now embedded in any European traveller’s smartphone.
