Kit and Ace brings designers-in-residence to Sydney
A design-retail hub of innovation is set to take Martin Place by storm, when Kit and Ace open its new store in April. As well as its 'technical' fabrics will be a resident designer as part of a 'technical atelier', writes Katrina Strickland.
When Kit and Ace opens its flagship Sydney store in Martin Place in April, it won't just be full of nice clothes and good looking shop assistants. The Canadian luxe streetwear brand markets itself on the "technical" cashmere and silk that its T-shirts, skirts, jackets and pants are made from – combinations of cashmere, silk, elastane and nylon that are machine washable.
Hence, amid the clothes racks in its Martin Place store will be a technical atelier, manned by a resident designer selected from fashion students, who will be working in-house for ten months at a time.
