Should people over 70 be screened each year for memory and cognitive loss?

The over-70s should have an annual memory and reasoning assessment to check if their cognitive function is declining, says an American panel of experts.

To preserve the brain capacity of our ageing society, a panel of world experts has recommended routine brain health screenings for everyone, starting at the age of 70.

This is the first time such a global exercise has been recommended and it would mean that every year, older people would submit to a short evaluation of their memory and reasoning ability by a doctor or specially trained person.
